I thank my sneakers for coddling my feet,

My car for seeing me home safe,

Siri for answering my questions,

The comfy gray chair where I read

For its pampering space.

I apologize to walls I graze,

Chairs I jostle, books I drop,

Doors I accidentally bang.

(I’m a klutz, but only when awake.)

I compliment sunsets, spiders’ webs,

Lilacs, thunderstorms, quilted fields,

Dancing shadows, rustling leaves,

Rushing water, rippling reflections.

At times in my head.

At times in a whisper.

At times out loud.
